Moles

We are accredited level 3 members of The Guild Of British Molecatchers.

We aim to provide a fast and friendly service of mole control using traditional methods. We do not use chemicals or poisons, using only traditional trapping methods, the only sure way of knowing a mole has been controlled.

Moles are notoriously difficult to eliminate, most people are aware of the damage they cause, but have never seen one. Damage taking only a short period of time can lead to unsightly earth mounds, which can be hazardous. Degeneration of gardens and pasture land is common, along with damage to machinery, especially lawn mowers.

Many people are confused with conflicting advice on mole control and rumours of how to best deal with moles. Those that have tried realise that home remedies do not work, giving little or no result. Specialist mole control is a continuous process that requires the right knowledge and time.

We offer a NO MOLE NO FEE policy. You only pay for the moles we catch.

Guild of British MolecatchersWe provide an initial site visit and survey, consultation, risk assessment, trap setting and the arranging of a convenient time to suit you to check, empty and remove traps.

We can provide commercial clients with weekly or monthly contracts to suit their budget.

Ants

ants.jpg
There are several different kind of ants in the UK and treatment is not the same for each, therefore identification is key.
The most common ant is the garden ant. These are found throughout Britain and usually nest in gardens and areas around buildings. They often enter homes in search of food. Garden ants can find the smallest cracks in a building, and if they locate a food source within the building they communicate this to other ants and lead them into the building to feed. During the summer, the flying stages of the ants may be seen emerging from the nest in large numbers.

SB Specialist Cleaning are fully trained and equipped to deal with the eradication of problematic ant’s nests whatever the type of ant!

Wasps

Wasps live in nests that are typically found in roof spaces, air bricks, cavity walls, garden sheds, trees and even in rockeries and flower beds. The nest is usually constructed from chewed bark and dried timber mixed with saliva and is a grey/beige colour with a papery appearance. If undisturbed and built in an unrestricted space, the nest can measure up to 120cm in circumference towards the end of the summer months. A nest this size would contain between 5,000 to 10,000 individual wasps!

Hazards of wasps nests around residential areas:

Wasps are aggressive when disturbed or frightened and will sting. This is painful and may cause redness and/or swelling but a sting is not normally serious, unless you are stung around the face, mouth, throat or tongue or suffer an allergic reaction to stings (known as anaphylactic shock). In these cases you should get immediate medical attention, as severe anaphylactic shock can be fatal. It is not advisable to try and treat nests or infestations yourself. SB Specialist Cleaning are fully trained and equipped to deal with the eradication of problematic wasp’s nests.

Fleas

Adult fleas live exclusively as parasites of a warm-blooded animal. The females lay their eggs after feeding on the infested animal. After several days the eggs will develop into larvae. After two to three weeks the larvae will be fully developed. The larva will then spin a cocoon where it will spend a further two to three weeks before emerging as an adult flea.

Signs to look for:
You will probably become alerted to the fact your pet has fleas by its constant scratching. Your suspicion can be confirmed either by seeing fleas or flea droppings in the coat.
Debris, eggs, larvae and adult fleas will live in your home – check all your carpets and rugs.
Bites on you or your family members – in human’s flea bites can cause an allergic reaction.

How did I get fleas?
In most situations a flea problem in the home is caused by the cat or bird flea. These are the two most common fleas found today, followed by the dog flea. (The human flea is very rare). Fleas can be carried all over your house by both pets and people.

At SB Specialist Cleaning we are fully trained by industry experts in the treatment on flea infestations. We cannot however treat your animals for fleas and we strongly recommend that you seek advice from your vet.
